Cyclopentane, also known as "pentamethylene", is a kind of cycloalkane with the formula of C5H10.
It has a molecular weight of 70.13.It exists as a kind of flammable liquid. It is soluble in alcohol,
and hydrocarbons and is not soluble in water.Cyclopentane is not a planar ring and has two
conformations: envelope conformations and semi-chair conformations. It exhibits red yellow color
when having reaction with fuming sulfuric acid while generating nitro cyclopentane and glutaric acid
through reaction with nitric acid.
Products Usage
Cyclopentane as a new type of foam PU foam, used to replace the destruction of the atmospheric
ozone layer of chlorofluorocarbons(CFCS),is now widely used in the production of fluorine-free
refrigerator, freezer industry and cold storage,pipeline insulation and other fields, CFCs and HCFCs
will soon be banned ad the ODS deadline is approached by the Montreal Convention, and cyclopentane
will become the protagonist of the PU foaming field.
(1)Blowing Agent: Widely used in the production of polyurethane foam as an eco-friendly blowing
agent, replacing chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
(2) Refrigerant: Used in household refrigerators and freezers as a refrigerant due to its lower ozone
depletion potential.
(3)Organic Synthesis: Used as a reaction medium or solvent in certain organic chemical reactions.
(4)Laboratory Use: Employed in chemical synthesis and the separation of organic compounds in
laboratory settings.
